Background story of Think and Grow Rich: includes Napoleon Hill's study of extremely successful and wealth people. Napolean Hill was originally commissioned by Andrew Carnegie to research how and why some people became ultra successful, while others in very similar circumstances did not. Napolean was fascinated in what and why these people were different. So Napolean studied Andrew Carnegie who was a Scottish immigrant who started out with no money and became a billionaire after becoming a giant steel manufacturer.
Napoleon Hill set about interviewing over 500 entrepreneurs including Ford, Wrigley, Wanamaker, Eastman, Rockefeller, Edison, Woolworth, Darrow, Burbank, Morgan, Firestone, and three United States Presidents. Napolean Hill determined that these entrepreneurs shared certain mental qualities, actually made habits of success, by doing things in a certain way, he wanted to discover what that certain was. The study of these success qualities became the basis for Think and Grow Rich.
Hill believed that by understanding and applying these success principles, anyone could live a full, meaningful and wealthy life. This research took Napoleon Hill some twenty years. It has greatly influenced the whole field of personal development as we know it today. The essence of Think and Grow Rich is in Napoleon Hill's statement: "Everything your mind can conceive, you can achieve". You must be specific, and even set a definite amount of time or time limit on achieving it. Additionally, an action plan is required. You cannot achieve significant results without a plan or action.
Then, in Think and Grow Rich the book states, that after you have formulated your goals and your plan, you need to visualise it. In this practice you should use all the senses you can use to silmulate the reality of already having achieved your goal, act as if you already have it. You also must believe that you can acquire it! This involves emotion, and it creates a true desire to achieve it.
Additionally, in Think and Grow Rich you need to learn and apply new skills so that you can achieve your goals. Success does not occur unless you work at it with an unwavering faith that you will achieve that which you desire. You Everyone comes up against barriers and hurdles along the way. You need to rise above the challenges and keep moving towards your goal, and never give up. Persistence and determination are key and vital to your success.
